The social website Reddit provides a public API to enable researchers and developers to extract information from its website. Several researchers use this tool to study public health through online discussions. Researchers at the University of Utah used the API to publish a paper tracking discussions about Ebola, electronic cigarettes, influenza, and marijuana on Reddit’s forums.
