DESCRIPTION

This UK-Brazil collaborative combines knowledge from computer science, environmental science and the social sciences to investigate innovative methods to combine crowdsourced geo-tagged information (e.g. from social media) with real-time environmental data and models. The project allows researchers to liaise with UK and Brazilian partners to share and transfer knowledge and build capacity in the Brazilian academic and governmental institutions involved. This collaborative, which is still in its early stages, aims at establishing an interdisciplinary network to share data and knowledge. This shared data would be used to support the decision-making involved in the monitoring and early-warning of floods and landslides with a view to improving urban resilience.
