Numina is a tech startup that offers insights about people, vehicles, and the street environment using sensors placed on outdoor fixtures such as lamp posts. The sensors use edge processing so that only anonymous, aggregated is transmitted from the sensors to Numina. Insights prevented trash bins from overfilling, identified where to locate mid-block crossing, and measured traffic during a car-free day. Numina’s public API gives developers access to the data in order to enable them to build apps that could improve city street planning.
