NASDAQ Index Data Sharing

Disclosed Personal Data Economic Development

The Data

There are two types of data that are shared by Nasdaq through their subscription: Nasdaq Global Index Watch (GIW), Nasdaq’s Standard Delivery Service; and Global Index FlexFile Delivery (GIFFD), Nasdaq’s Premium Delivery Service. GIW is the standard direct source for index history and components accessed through a web platform. GIFFD contains index weighting, advancecd corporate action, and extensive additional data for Nasdaq indexes.

How the data was shared

The data is shared with clients who subscribe to the NASDAQ Global Index Watch (GIW) or Global Index FlexFile Delivery (GIFFD). GIW subscribers can access data directly through a simple web interface. Firms have the option to retrieve raw data through a GIW web service. GIFFD delivers data to clients, offering them different file format options. Additionally, a select group of data vendors redistribute Nasdaq's data through their own APIs.

Purpose of Data Shared

Nasdaq provides current and historical index data for the diverse suite of Nasdaq Global Indexes, which covers all geographies and multiple asset classes. This reliable and comprehensive data set helps investors value securities, evaluate investments and track portfolios. The widespread distribution of our index data promotes capital performance transparency for investors, asset managers and global financial institutions.
